Yesterday in Church I shared a statistic that is frightening: The lack of biblical literacy in America is at epidemic levels, says Ron Rhodes, President of Reasoning from the Scriptures Ministries. And when he talks about the lack of Bible reading among Americans, he is not talking about the population in general – he is talking about people who call themselves born-again Christians.
recent poll, which indicates that 35% of born-again Christians do not read the Bible at all. In addition, Rhodes indicates that among those who say they read the Bible, the vast majority only read it during the one hour they attend church each Sunday morning. Rhodes says such statistics make it more than obvious why many Christians are easy prey for spiritual deception.
Recent studies by The Barna Group and the Gallup Organization conclude that any reasonable understanding of biblical facts and truths is seriously lacking among Americans. Today, basic Christian truths are virtually unknown to a majority in this nation.
“American Christians are biblically illiterate. Although most of them contend that the Bible contains truth and is worth knowing, and most of them argue that they know all of the relevant truths and principles, our research shows otherwise. And the trend line is frightening: the younger a person is, the less they understand about the Christian faith.” —Barna

Jesus = Peace

According to an article in The Canadian Army Journal:
Since 3600 B.C. the world has known only 292 years of peace. During this period there have been 14,531 wars, large and small, in which 3,640,000,000 people have been killed. The value of the destruction would pay for a golden belt around the world 97 miles wide and 33 feet thick. In addition, since 650 B.C. there have been 1,656 arms races, only 16 of which have not ended in war. The remainder have ended in the economic collapse of the countries concerned (something we are seeing in the current disintegration of the Soviet Union).
To put it another way, in world history we have seen 13 years of war for every year of peace. Since the beginning of time, more than 8,000 treaties of peace were concluded. Although meant to last forever, the average time they remained in force was 2 years. (Encyclopedia of 7700 Illustrations, p. 1571)
In the midst of the WORLD of WAR, Jesus Christ came! It says in Luke 2:14. “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.”
The Prophet Isaiah had spoken 700 years earlier about the Messiah, calling Him the Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6-7 6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 7 Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end.
Jesus = Peace
In Ephesians 2:14 For he himself is our peace, who has made the two one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility,
Paul said that Jesus Himself is our peace, who has broken down the wall of division between us. We have peace because we have been forgiven and set free from the bondage that sin brings. We have peace because the Holy Spirit lives within us and brings us peace. We have peace because regardless of where we’ve been, because we know where we are going.
We can be SECURE no matter External Circumstance! He is our PROVISION, HOPE, FUTURE PEACE
Romans 5:1 “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Are you still in the kiddie pool?
Posted: August 22, 2012 in Bible, UncategorizedTags: deeper, Ezekiel 47
It’s cute to see a child playing in a kiddie pool, but there is something wrong with a fully grown man or woman that still is only comfortable there. God wants to take you DEEPER, but that is not possible if you are still hanging out in the Kiddie Pool.
Ezekiel 47:1-6 says:
The man brought me back to the entrance to the temple, and I saw water coming out from under the threshold of the temple toward the east (for the temple faced east). The water was coming down from under the south side of the temple, south of the altar. 2 He then brought me out through the north gate and led me around the outside to the outer gate facing east, and the water was trickling from the south side.
3 As the man went eastward with a measuring line in his hand, he measured off a thousand cubits[a] and then led me through water that was ankle-deep. 4 He measured off another thousand cubits and led me through water that was knee-deep. He measured off another thousand and led me through water that was up to the waist. 5 He measured off another thousand, but now it was a river that I could not cross, because the water had risen and was deep enough to swim in—a river that no one could cross. 6 He asked me, “Son of man, do you see this?”
As a believer there should be a progression and not stagnation. In this passage Ezekiel is taken to water the was:
1. Ankle deep
2. Knee deep
3. Waist deep
4. A river so seep that no one could cross
If you believe that God has MORE for you! If you want to go DEEPER! If you are tiered of feeling STUCK…. This is a message that you should watch:
Don’t let your disappointment speak out (overpower your Faith)
Posted: August 14, 2012 in UncategorizedTags: disappointment, Faith, feelings, habits, romans 12, thoughts
The way that I think determines the way that I feel.
The way that I feel determines the way that I act.
If You feel depressed because you’re thinking some depressing thoughts. The key is to start with the way that you think. You can’t fight a feeling.
The Bible says change starts in the mind — “Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”
Psalm 1:1-3 “Blessed is the man who meditates on God’s word.” When we meditate on God’s word it gets into our mind and changes us.
Phil. 4:8 says “Think on these things” and it tells you the kinds of things to think about.
Col. 3:6 “Let the word of God dwell in you richly.”
Psalm 1:19 “Thy word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against God.”
What really matters in life the most is not what happens to you. What happens to you is not the most important thing in your life. What happens in you is what matters most. That is a choice.
Don’t let your disappointment speak out (overpower your Faith)
If you are a believer declare:
- I can do all things through Christ
- I am Victorious
- No weapon formed against me will prosper
- I am Blessed
