Pressure Management part 1

1.  DO WHAT YOU CAN DO.  The first thing when it comes to handling stress and pressure is to learn to do what you can do.  Think practically about what you in fact can do about your situation; write down solutions that are doable and then start to do what you can do.

2.  GIVE EVERYTHING ELSE TO GOD.  Most people carry too much stress.  Some people even feel stress about things that they are not even facing right now, but they think that it could be a possibility.  Learn to give the things that you can’t change and alter to God.  Prayer, reading God’s word, and worship are tools that release stress.  Let the pressures of life drive you into the promises of God.

3. PREVENT IT. How much stress do you cause just by putting unnecessary pressure on yourself? Do you over react to little things that annoy you? Every time you let anger or frustration take control, it drains away good energy and side tracks you from more important things. Obviously, you can’t always control what goes on around you, but you can control how you respond to it.

4. SET GOALS. Some people drift through life going from crisis to crisis letting stress build up. If you set goals, you can take better control of your life. Think where you’d like to be in 1 year or 5 years. Be realistic by starting with small daily goals, then build up from there. Re-evaluate your goals from time to time and be prepared to adjust them as changes occur in your life.

5. ESTABLISH PRIORITIES. Do you often feel rushed because “there’s no time”? Why not regulate the pace of your life? Plan ahead. Make a list of tasks in order of priority. Concentrate on what’s really important to you and drop those things that only waste your energy.

5 great points from you Mathias…

I would add that as you set your goals break down how you want to achieve them and the tasks it will take. Then go for it.

Most of the things we worry about we have no control over. I don’t want to sound to ethereal here but think for a moment if our minds would work in such a way that we are only concerned and thinking about the exact moment we are in presently. What I mean is that most of our worries are based on past events that we can’t change and future events that we cannot control.
Now, I am not talking about past things where we need to repair some damage done, for example, people we have hurt, etc or plans and goals we set for our future, but a lot of our stress and anxiety is a result of too much thoughts about our past and our future and on things we can’t do anything about. If only we could be like God where time is of no relevance, He is outside of time, not limited by it and in control of it. If we have such as awesome God who has it all under His control, there is no need for worry and anxiety. Don’t Let Your Heart Be Troubled, Neither Let It Be Afraid.
