Is this the Final end of WMCU?

March 19, 2008

I have been amazed by the volume of hits that WMCU have generated on this blog.  One thing is sure, there is a large void that the sale of WMCU created.  Like so many other people in Miami I was saddened by what took place especially when it comes to the ministry impact that the station had in South Florida.  FCC made a ruling last week and as far as I can see there is not much hope left.  You can read the FCCs findings here.

A descition that changed everything!

March 18, 2008

2 Kings 7:3-8 contains one of the coolest passages in the Bible.  When you think you have it bad you must read passages like this one.  This is truly a passage about desperation:

  • There was a famine in the land.
  • One woman ate her own son.  I said that they were desperate…. (read about in in 2 kings 6:28-29)
  • The Arameans had a siege going on
  • There are 4 Lepers outside of the city gate that is about to make a decision that changes everything
  • Notice that I said lepers, sick people, outcasts, with no resources, with really nothing…
  • Look at verse 3 “why stay here until we die?” – That is a profound statement
  • They decide to go TOWARDS the enemy, prepared to die and with nothing to loose
  • God takes notice of what they are doing, read 2 kings 7:6-7 (God must have one big sound system)
  • They ended up on Top with food, gold, silver & clothes
  • The lepers did what the king and everybody else should have done.  They went towards the enemy
  • When you are desperate you are willing to try anything
  • Things usually don’t happen until you get desperate enough not to sit still

Jesus is not blind!

March 14, 2008

John chapter 9 contains a fascinating story about Jesus and a blind man and there are many really cool things that we can learn from this passage:

  • Jesus can see you and your circumstances even if you are blind to Him.
  • Jesus focus is on the “what” not the “why”.  Too often we focus on asking the wrong questions.
  • What Jesus is doing in your life is bigger than you.  He wants to show His glory ….
  • How God works in our lives does not often make sense.  Jesus spit and made mud.
  • When we expect God’ answer to come in a certain way most likely it will not.
  • It often gets worse before it gets better
  • The blind man was not healed until he walked in faith with mud and spit on his eyes.

Compliment or Competition?

March 4, 2008

Do you know what really bugs me?  Churches, ministries, pastors, co-workers that don’t see and don’t understand the difference between competition and compliment.  To have more new churches in a city where about 90% do not have a personal relationship with Jesus should be seen as a compliment and not as competition.  Just look at fast food restaurants, where there is a McDonald’s, Burger-king, Wendy’s, etc.  Let’s have a kingdom mentality, just like Jesus prayed in John 17:20-23

I just read what Travis Johnson wrote on his blog.  They will actually have a church relocated right across the street and I love the fact that he is looking forward to it.  That to me is in line with what Jesus prayed!
