2 Kings 7:3-8 contains one of the coolest passages in the Bible. When you think you have it bad you must read passages like this one. This is truly a passage about desperation:
-
There was a famine in the land.
-
One woman ate her own son. I said that they were desperate…. (read about in in 2 kings 6:28-29)
-
The Arameans had a siege going on
-
There are 4 Lepers outside of the city gate that is about to make a decision that changes everything
-
Notice that I said lepers, sick people, outcasts, with no resources, with really nothing…
-
Look at verse 3 “why stay here until we die?” – That is a profound statement
-
They decide to go TOWARDS the enemy, prepared to die and with nothing to loose
-
God takes notice of what they are doing, read 2 kings 7:6-7 (God must have one big sound system)
-
They ended up on Top with food, gold, silver & clothes
-
The lepers did what the king and everybody else should have done. They went towards the enemy
-
When you are desperate you are willing to try anything
-
Things usually don’t happen until you get desperate enough not to sit still
