Have you ever considered that you might look too far ahead? No, don’t get me wrong I am all in favor of planning and scheduling. What I ask is this “could it be possible that you are missing what’s right at your feet?” I believe that all too often I miss out on opportunities by not looking at what’s right in front of me.
Consider this:
- The Bible says “Your word is a lamp to my FEET and a light for my path” Psalm 119:105
- To see what’s at your feet you might have to slow down your pace and look down.
- It does not say that God will show you everything in your future.
- It does imply that God’s word will and can illuminate your current circumstances.
- The disciples time after time did not fully grasp who Jesus was and what He could do. Look at these examples John 4:27-34, 6:33-36, 11:11-16. Over and over Jesus has to explain his nature and who He is and what he can do. Remember that Jesus was right with them.
- It is easy to miss out on what’s right in front of us, especially when our expectations do not line up with God’s intentions.
- Business and focus on problems can easily make us miss out on solutions that are right on our door step. Case in point, I remember praying for God to send us a drummer when all along He had a person in our Church.
- There is no substitution for daily time reading the Bible. If you need direction read the Book, it will bring light to your path and it will become a lamp to your feet.
