What do you believe?

January 31, 2009

2009 is a year to “step up” and move ahead.  My question to you is this:

  • What do you need to stop doing?
  • What should you begin to do?

This last Sunday I preached and asked you the question “What do you believe?”.

In  Matthew 8:13  Jesus said “It will be done just as you believed“.  Matthew 9:22  says “Your faith has healed you” and 9:29 says “According to your faith it will be done to you”.

      I shared two thoughts:

  •  Belief Determines Blessings
  •  Belief Determines Behavior

Mark 2:5  says “When Jesus saw their faith..”

Here is the important thing to learn:  Blessings are linked to Behavior but it all starts with the Belief.  If the blessings are not there it is because of the belief.

If you believe, start attaching actions to that belief (read James 2:14-20).

Showed this video today in church.  I especially liked this thought “How much do you have to hate someone not to tell them?”  Thoughts?

God’s will & God’s voice

January 23, 2009

How do I know the will of God?  Have you ever asked yourself that question?  1 Corinthians 14:10 says that there are many voices in this world and Jesus says in John 10:14 that He is the good Shepherd and that His sheep knows His voice!

Perhaps knowing God’s will has more to do with hearing His voice!  The question we should be asking  is “How do I know the voice of God?”

Change!

January 22, 2009
  • God will not allow us to stay stuck
  • The Bible is full of people that faced change
  • Life, just as the Bible is, full of situations that force us to use our faith
  • God can supernaturally open doors, but also; close doors
  • We can either embrace or resist change
  • It might be negative on the surface but, remember that God would not allow it if He did not have a purpose
  • When things begin to stir, that is a sign that change is coming….. John 5:1-18
  • When a season is over, we must learn to embrace the change and get ready for the new
  • We got to learn to quit talking about the past and what we had and press on into the present with what we have…
  • Where something starts, is not always where it finishes
  • Sometimes we take the treasures of life and make it a tradition.  ….
